Futures and forex trading contains substantial risk and is not for every investor. An investor could
potentially lose all or more than the initial investment. Risk capital is money that can be lost without
jeopardizing ones’ financial security or life style. Only risk capital should be used for trading and only
those with sufficient risk capital should consider trading. Past performance is not necessarily indicative of
future results

How to improve an existing strategy

I haven't spend time on this, but here is a concept.
Get a system you like.
So add the indicators used in GSB, but make them forced.

You can then play around with what exits work best,
optionally add one more non forced indicator etc.
Ive learnt a lot from this.
Its worth doing a video on, but that will be some time away.
The concept is new to me.
It became very clear what exits worked best.
You could also use data1 15 and 30 min, and see what one gave best stats etc.
GSB will optimize the parameters for each time frame as it sees best.

Custom metric of ave 5 worst dd is also really useful to use. It is very telling on how good stops are.

Thank you for the valuable tip. may i ask how you force the indicators that GSB used when you developed the system from start, and then running a second "optimisation" run using the forced indicators while just testing the exit types ?

I assume you load the saved system in GSB, but how do i force some indicators while optimising other such as stops?

Sorry for perhaps being unclear in my quetion.

Daniel

Hi Daniel,
good question and hard for you to do. What I didnt realize is the trial version doesnt give you this ability. My logic is there is too much to get into trouble for a new GSB user. Hence a number of complex features are over simplified.
However I can fix this if needed.
We need to put your GSB into admin mode. This is not normally done for trial users, but it can be done.
Here is a screen shot of how to do it once your in GSB admin mode.
But this also might not work as you intend. The reason is GSB doesnt allow duplicate systems. There is also a fix for this.
see data tweak picture below. GSB thinks it has 2 (or make it more) data streams.
Im just calling the same data file a different name to fake different data streams.
This will result in possibly more and duplicate systems.
In this approach - this is what I do.
build some systems with your favorite template of settings.
test the stats using nth (invert each day) and the stats of after 20150630
Then say add the first of the 1 new stops.
Build new systems, see what the stats are.
The stops make a big different to net profit and drawdown metrics.
High NP and higher DD, vs lower NP and lower DD.
Note the ave 5 worst DD custom metric is very worth looking at.

As many might have probably done. it is not a good idea to trade on FED announcement days. Also, and probability going back couple years also suggests it is not good idea to trade on FED minutes days as well. So, for those who want to hard code these days in the strategies. The reason these days have been so rough is the way how traders always trade. Bulls always run up the market before a anticipating event or numbers and recently, the FED has been hawkish which makes the market to go down following their speech, creating an inverted 'V' pattern which hits most GSB index strategies weak spots. The same patterns during the FED days with the announcement following a press conference so usually 2 Inverted V pattern day and huge price spikes.

@chifai2
There is merit to your suggestion, and numerous people do it.
the latest pa pro has all these features to objectively test them. (not sure I released it but a new release is nearly ready)
Whats problematic to me is the 30 November 2022 was the biggest profits I have had in 22 years. I would have missed it as its interest rate day.
Another approach would be to reduce position size
