Continuing:
"...steps missing I couldn't fill in right away, and nothing ever did appear in the GSB."....
Ok, an extreme dimwit-as-to-anything-to-do-with programming (but who has 15 years at least with usually more of the early Trade Station code),
wonders:
"Is he suggesting I can take any Trade Station indicator and run the GSB with it the same as his "canned," default indicators? (Let's get one at all
up and running, then wonder if we can put in 36 of our own like his default number of indic's.)
YES YOU CAN, BUT IT WILL BE VERY RAM HUNGRY
RIGHT NOW IM TESTING 23 OF CURT999(GSB USER NAME) ON 15 MIN CL, AND ITS USING 14 GB PER GSB. 30 MIN WILL USE LESS, BUT THATS WITH ONLY 1 DATA STREAM.
If so, come the questions:
1. Not just indicators, but ShowMe's, PaintBar's, maybe even Strategies in Trade Station, as they are, can run in the GSB?
MY REPLIES IN CAPS.
NO, WE USE THE WORK INDICATOR, BUT TECHNICALLY ITS FUNCTIONS WE ARE TALKING ABOUT. ANY SHOWME ETC TYPICALLY HAS A FUNCTION, SO YOU NEED TO CONVERT TO
FUNCTIONS.
2. The first dialogue upon clicking "Generate Export Script":
Under "Data" can I leave Primary and Secondary blank?
NO
3. Same dialogue in 2 under Function/Name - have to give it the EXACT same name as my chosen TS indicator? Including spaces, caps, underscores? (These
are the kinds of things I thnk of immediately - nowhere in sight on answers )
YES, NAME MUST BE EXACT.
4. Under parameters when I add, this is all about going down the list of maybe every single input in the TS indicator and placing them as either
static (fixed or dynamic)?
YES
4a. Sequel to 4: you have to include EVERY input in your want-to TS indicator - only the inputs you want to optimize? All? You HAVE to include all
static (fixed) inputs?
YES
5. You have to then go down the list, (add your to-be optimized inputs in the GSB), from top to bottom exactly as the inputs are in the TS strategy?
...Because I'm not seeing in the set-parameters (GSB) dialogue box one can use the exact TS input name anywhere - iow's, you might get very confused
with a lot of inputs you're setting parameters for if you can't see their names.(?)
IM NOT CLEAR ON THIS
6. After I fill in my parameters (which I think I can do as I optimized a lot in TS), I then hit
"Generate," and I do sure enough see something. I copy this script to a new TS STRATEGY, then put it in a, say a 30 min chart and compile. Nothing,
and I mean nothing ever happened after this tho I waited long, then looked for anything under Custom Indicators and the manila "Indicators Data" in
DropBox, also everywhere I could think to in Managers and Workers.
THE PATH IS IN THE TS CODE. LOOK THERE. YOU NEED TO ADD THE STRATEGY GSB GENERATED ON THE CHART WITH 500 MAXBARSBACK PERIOD
7. You maybe have to paste something additional into the Generated Script when you paste it into the chart for the export to GSB? My generated script
looked awfully simp; nowhere near anything like the MACD onboard sample script you can view after the dialogue comes up and you hit hit "Generate
Export Script" for this MACD.
PASTE YOUR SCRIPT ON THE FORUM IF YOU ARE STILL STUCK
More and more questions to be sure...a video, showing the detail of EVERY box fill-in, every step in taking a
want-to-do-this-one indicator out of Traded Station, filling in every detail, getting it up and running in the GSB - this.
I UPDATED THE DOC'S. IN TIME THERE WILL BE GSB COURSES BY THIRD PARTY'S THAT WILL BE DESIGNED FOR PEOPLE WITH LOW KNOWLEDGE OF ALL ASPECTS OF TRADING.
