Contract List

I still don't understand the Contract list?
If you look at the attached pictures it shows my data export with the first data at 9:31 and last at 15:00
The contract list is set from From MOC 15:00 To MOC 16:00
But all my trades close at 14:00?
And no trade starts any earlier than 9:45?
I don't get it?

Hi Marc
I think the default contracts cl1500 is set to 1400. This is due cl1400 referring to central usa time 1500 (ts on local time)
Change the moc to 150000 to 150059

on 15 min, trades cant start at 930 as the close of the first bar is 945.

There are two reasons. No one gets notified if you make a new topic, so the chance of getting your post replied to quickly will drop a lot.

by the way, cl should be on 900 to 1430 exchange time, but your pc on local time to get best results.
Its also strongly recommend to use ho, ng rb as secondary data.

Most likely 30 min will be the best time frame, second the best 15 min.

Even if I try to match the data that are provided with GSB with my own export to get current 2019 data I can not align the data?
If you look at the Excel sheet I tried to line up your data with my data 1h earlier, same time, and 1h later and it just seems that my data are usually 1$ more?
I can not get any good systems with my own export data?

Hi Marc7200,

These are the steps I use to export data from TS and import the data into GSB.

1. construct the chart in TS
2. add the secondary data streams in THE SAME chart (by doing this I prevent combining different/incorrect times in GSB)
3. export the data streams one by one to txt files
4. open the txt file in Notepad (or something simular) to see what the end time of the session is
5. change the name of the txt file to CL + end time (for example CL1230)
6. open GSB
7. go to contract list
8. if the market is CL and the end time in the txt file is 1230, then clone the CL line in the contract list
9. in the new line, change the name in the contract list to CL1230 (this is market + end time in the txt file)
10. change the MOC time in the contract list to 12:30
11. go to the price data list in GSB.
12. add a new line, call it for example CL1230.30
13. link the txt price data file CL1230 to the price data list
14. save

That is exactly the process I am using.
Could you look at my data file that is attached.
If I use it my system only makes about half of the Net-Profit compared to using your provided data?
This would also explain that even when I use one of your build systems my performance is not the same.
I used the same time frame as yours 09/01/2006 -
I love the tool but this is my biggest struggle

sent me teamviewer details and I will look at it.
This is a critical issue to resolve, but I dont think it will be too hard to fix.
The $1 price difference will be due to data having rolled over, and been back adjusted. Thats not an issue.

Hi Marc

Why you have such poor results is primarily that you have the wrong secondary filter.
Energies need ga- closed{bpv}-close and or closed/close

Stock indexs need closed{bpv}/close
This is critical to get right for each market, and one of the most common mistakes GSB users make.

The other thing is CL likes secondary data ng ho rb.

I get all that but it still makes no sense why with the exact same settings in GSB using your data vs. my supposedly exact same data for the same duration it will give me only 50% of the profits as using your data?
I think there has to be something fundamentally different that's why I didn't even want to go further and mess with second data and all that.

Hi Marc. Can you explain in greater detail.
Is it that when you build systems, results overall are low. Or does this relate to a specific system? If you have nth on, that will also 1/2 your profits.

What I mean is that when I export the same data duration of 1min CL data as provided in GSB Price data "CL1330.1.Minute.900-1430_CentralUsaTime_cl_ho_ng_rb" from my own TradeStation system and use it instead your data with the exact same settings in GSB, you would think the data should be the same as and therefore I should get the ~ same results.
But instead when I use my data the results are about 50% less Profit.
I have repeated this process several times your data vs my data and consistently my results are always much worse.
