It’s ok now on Tradestation.

Are we ok with 102NC or 103NC is more correct ?

admin - 29-11-2021 at 11:35 PM

both are now working. I suspect @MGCG22=102NC+GJMQZ is what we should use but @MGCG22=103NC+GJMQZ might have fixed the issue.
I dont have time to put into looking into to this more, but other users are welcome to do so.

warning, numerous users have got this error today on small % of ts charts.
You need to check every chart is ok. (one of the reasons I needed alertmon monitoring)

Lots of TS9.5 crashes again recently....

Blackbox,

Looking at your event viewer, it seems the TS crashes are happening on bar interval multiples down to the second. You might wish to investigate your trade history and see if this is happening when orders on the same symbol are crossing, you may find that you need a position manager that manages conflicting positions locally and only submits the net position to the exchange. I ran into this issue a while back and curious to know if that's what you're seeing. I found there's a commercially available solution that does a good job of this already on the TS store, and at least for me, that made my platform rock solid again. The idea is you do not need to have every strategy turned on in the TradeManager, but you have a local order manager that only submits the net result for the various symbols you are trading.

Hope this helps!

Tyler

Peter,
The recent crashes are caused by C:\Windows\System32\ucrtbase.dll
UCRtBase stands for Universal C Runtime Base

I run TS9.5 on Windows Server 2016

The recent crashes occurs exactly on the buy signal of the GSBSwingAG101 system since I installed that system on November 10, 2021

I haven't yet installed GSB_SCRIPTS_2021_11_11+WITHUPDATEDGSBSYS1ES_V1.21.ELD

admin - 2-12-2021 at 05:09 PM

Interesting. Did you look in ts forum or phone ts support over this?
very few people are using 2016 server. 2019 is what most would use if they are not on ts 10
Your craashes are not what I have experienced, though I had many crashes till I fixed up the issues in the document I prepared in above thread

REMO755 - 7-12-2021 at 05:27 PM

Hello
With which type could you get a greater number of exchanges?

Peter, the GSBSwingAG101 system keeps crashing TS on its buy signal where all other systems don't have that problem. Can you please have a look in the code where it differs from all other systems. Thanks Jan.

Peter, only thing that I found in the code in the GSB_Norm2 function, which is called by the strategy, is a "External:" line.

Maybe a "left over" from debugging
I removed that now....

GSB_Norm2.png - 26kB

admin - 8-12-2021 at 08:17 PM

@blackbox, that is left over from debugging but not used unless the dll is called elsewhere in the code.
Norm2 is also not used. We are up to norm4 now

But in the GSBSwingAG101 strategy Norm_2 is still used to define the Decision

admin - 9-12-2021 at 07:36 PM

Correct. But dll is not used. Thats a very old but successful system. Your welcome to remove the line

Hi,

I've run a full methodology pass for a symbol and ended up with a quite large number of promising systems I wanted to explore more.
The problem was that I had to stop working with GSB and leave for some other tasks.
Before I left I wanted to save may work for picking it up later.
Unfortunately I couldn't find the way for doing it.
I am blind and cannot find an obvious function or there is no way for saving a results?

Can anyone tell how to do it?

Thomas

Carl - 12-12-2021 at 08:10 AM

Hi Thomas,

Yes, you can save one or more strategies by right clicking and choose "save".

At a later stage you can reload a saved strategy by:
1. starting GSB,
2. open the app settings and opt settings file you have been using during the build process (-file -load...),
3. put your cursor in the lower pane,
4. right click,
5. choose "load",
6. browse to the strategies you want to load,
7. open

It can take a few seconds before the first strategies reappear in GSB.

thowoc213 - 12-12-2021 at 11:37 AM

Hi,

TS crashes after 40-80 sec after the start of the WFO file.
The chart is ES, 30 min, from 2000 until now.
It happens no matter of the settings, number of iterations, length of the period, etc.

That never happened before, it happens with GSB 64.37.

Has anyone seen similar behavior?

Thomas

Carl - 12-12-2021 at 02:16 PM

Hi Thomas,

Do you mean you copied the GSB code to TS and started a WF in TS on this GSB code?

Did a quick check, but did not see any difference in the code from GSB 64.371 compared to GSB 63.09.
I did not use the profit target or exits in this test.

Maybe you can post the GSB code you are testing in TS?
Then we are able to see if it could be the code, or one of the new indicators, or something else.

thowoc213 - 12-12-2021 at 02:33 PM

Hi Carl,
Thanks for your replay.
I was a little bit unclear in my description. What happened was the power outage and everything was lost. Hence my question.
Saving systems following your description works fine, thanks again.

I run TS 10.00.02.954.
Below is the code I picked up randomly. I didn't test all the systems but some 7-9 systems I tried to optimized went the same way, TS crush.

Hi Thomas,

GSB code looks fine to me. Basic day trading code on ES.

Did you also try restarting PC, deleting TS cache, restarting TS, create new workspace and chart in TS (with chart set to tick count) ?

Could also be a corrupt TS workspace or TS desktop. Have had this a few times before.

And I prefer time entry window in GSB 0830-1430 instead of your 0830-1500

thowoc213 - 12-12-2021 at 03:44 PM

Hi Carl,

Thanks!

I did try all of what you suggested and it didn't work. I contacted TS support, will se what they say. In the meantime I will reinstall TS and see if that helps.

admin - 12-12-2021 at 04:16 PM

@thowoc213, do a repair option on ts under add remove programs.
If that doesnt work, make a copy of the entire ts folder to ts.old, then unisntall, re-isntall.
If that doesnt work you can rename ts folder to ts.new and the copy form ts.old to ts.
not sure if this would work on ts 10. It has different folder structure.

Carl - 12-12-2021 at 04:22 PM

Hi Thomas,

I copied your code into my TS 9.5 update 28 (9.50.1.3344) and started a (small) WF.
Optimized length2 and SFlength.
WF results all okay in the WF optimizer.
Your issue is probably a TS issue.

Reading WF curves effectively

spikster667 - 12-12-2021 at 10:57 PM

In the videos, it mentions that the WF Current is the curve that will be traded, however, the videos also mention that we are looking for a higher WFO OOS curve. A few questions:

Is it the WFO OOS curve that we want to be higher than the test and training curve or is it the WF Current curve?
What is the relationship between the WF Current and WF OOS curves?
Do we also want the curves to line up as much as possible or be higher than the test and training curve?

Trade Binance account with TS

spikster667 - 12-12-2021 at 11:07 PM

I have setup a Binance account and found trading on there quite good. Their Futures section is great but they will now shut it down in Australia (23 Dec) until it is regulated properly.

Is there a way to trade on Binance using TS using all the easylanguage strategies that we can build? Or is it just MT that can do it. Anyone tried linking to TS to Binance using the TS API?

admin - 12-12-2021 at 11:12 PM

Good questions.
Nearly always the current curve will be higher than the wf curve.
Exceptions can be when fitness used is lower in oos curve, but net profit is not. If you dont understand this line ignore it.

as for relationship of curves.
Lets say we hit 100% parameter stability in the last 5 of 10 runs.
Then the two curves will be exactly parallel. This is great to have and sometimes achievable, but not always realistic
Being close to test / training curve is nice but doesnt matter too much.
If the parameters shift early & a lot, this will not be the case.
id you might get much more (or less number of trades) and this will cause the curves to shift a lot.
What I like is stability in parameters. It means the system has found parameters that are consistently best.
Parameters that are random are red flag
prentend we have
result=rsi(close,x)*average(pizza's eaten today,y)
paramaters in y are not going to be stable. x hopefully will be

Your questions might be covered deep in some videos, but no idea where. The questions you ask show your getting into some important concepts
It might be in the gold videos, but im not sure. Been a while since I looked at them

Bummer to hear about AU. Perhaps we are a communist country :(
you can trade multicharts to Binance, but no idea how regulations affect this.
I cant get my Binace account open and have given up.
You can trade etf gbtc and thats straight forward. Enough volatility.
Ive built two GBTC systems that are in out of sample testing.

Thanks.
Shame to hear about your Binance account not opening. I have setup 1 personal account and 1 corporate account. Both quite painless and in a few days after I verified them.

Their futures section allowed leverage above 100x but that is a trap and closing in AU in 10 days. The spot market trading is also good with large liquidity and low fees. TS crypto trading also looks interesting.

It seems the liquidity on CME Futures for BTC and ETH is increasing a bit now. Higher than EMD and similar to PL so not too bad. Just keen to keep using Easylanguage auto strategies so the best option for TS at this stage. Will look at MT too.

Interesting. I had a feature called parameter analysis / ai wf that never got ai added (yet) as its so complex
(its an option of right click of wf in GSB)

here is a different angle
analyses each parameter by AI first.
the ideal is a bell curve.
a total horizontal line is a orange/red flag. ie parameter y below
ie result=rsi(close,x)*average(close,y)/average(close,y)

orange flag is no pattern. ie results totally erratic.
Sometimes in systems, IE gsbsys1es and maybe gsbsys1gc there is one indicator that is not valid.
Its good to weed that out. It wont kill a system but will as a bare min improve WF stability scores etc.
Its more likely to degrade OOS

I dont do it all the time, but normally first system I make on a market, or a system that I release under systems for sale
https://trademaid.info/gsbhelp/Systemsforsale.html
Most of these systems have been checked in this detailed way.
I dont see why AI cant do this as well as a human, or at least do the initial checkup. AI would be excellent for this.

spikster667 - 13-12-2021 at 06:59 AM

I am growing tired of TS 32 bit. Slow and buggy and customer support is not good from Australia. I had my internet drop out last week and it broke TS for a week. After about 20 reboots it started working but the "tradestation must shut down" screen is getting boring.

Hoping that MultiCharts with IB will be better. IB certainly has a lot more instruments on offer...

@spikster667,
what I think that does is use the wf paramaters as default for whats on the chart in gsb.

Whats important is that for live trading use the export for live trading option with wf parameters (not match check)

Hi Spikster, i think both platforms has its own quirks and faults, but after extensive usage one becomes a super user and finds ways to make either work as reliable as possible. I have found MC to work very good and reliable with GSB developed systems, you will find that MC does not support systems trading opposite directions and this will create headache that you need to find solutions to solve, (not possible to solve perfectly) unless two accounts or custom adaptations of mc. But if only trading 1-2 systems per market this is not really an issue. In my case i trade around 8-9 systems per market and then this becomes a real problem. Regardless, i think Multicharts with gsb systems provides a very reliable setup, if you need tips for MC just ask here

admin - 13-12-2021 at 07:33 PM

Hi Spikster,
In my opinion there is no way you should trade from AU. Too much latency and reliability issues. The latency will cost you in fills on any markets that dont have superb liquidity.
My VM service has been running for a long time, but im currently replacing TS execution entirely as its not super reliable.

https://trademaid.info/gsbhelp/Videos.html
https://trademaid.info/gsbhelp/AlertmonMonitoring.html

see https://trademaid.info/gsbhelp/Purchase.html

Unrelated, I know how to get $ from AU into TS account for next to nothing. Using the banks directly will cost you about 4%

Hi

What would the time format on the csv file be if i use normal market hours for the GC contract. Example for day trade is GC.1.minute.830_1500.Central. What would it be if i use the full market time from Sunday afternoon until Friday close?

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Hello, how have you come to know that you have to use two data when building systems in crude oil.
What is the validation to know if you have to use 1, 2 or three datas?

portfolioquanttrader2020 - 1-1-2022 at 10:08 AM

Hello
I need to know why I can't see the indicators after building in crude with macro 6. I right click and nothing appears. I've had two lost weeks of work with this.

All indicators enabled

Ketil - 2-1-2022 at 06:58 AM

When I open the manager only 79 of 149 indicators is enabled, see the attachment. How can I get all the indicators enabled when opening the manager?

You need to select all indicators (control a, or click, move to send shift click) then select true, the save opt settings

Hi everyone,
I'm new to GSB.
I followed the steps in the video to find the best indicators for ES. I opened RM, Manager and Worker, made the parameter settings and started the machine. during the process the Worker program closed by itself, RM continued to work normally. When Manager reached a predetermined number of systems, at the moment of selecting the first thousand he began to slow down considerably (not responding). I don't know how to fix it. This was not the case before installing RM.
I ask for help. Thank you

Not sure if i understand your problem correct, if you believe something is strange because the workers gets killed or because you believe manager slows down ? it seems that you manually started the worker? this you shall not do.

You could jus disregard the worker and rm, and just focus on the manager.
Its normal that the build process slows down if there is no workers available in the cloud.

Let us know if you still have problems

OroDan - 5-1-2022 at 05:12 AM

I have only run Manager as suggested, in reality the problem is not solved but is mitigated, probably because I did a test by running only 5000 systems and not 20,000.
From what I understand it seems that Manager delays considerably because when I select the systems to be included in the favorites it shows me all the graphs of the selected ones, emitting a sound for each selection, this is very annoying. I don't know if there is a setting to eliminate this process. I can't use the macro (the one from the video) because it's not in my library, where can I find them? Thank you
I hope I was clear.

admin - 5-1-2022 at 05:28 AM

@orodan. How much ram on your system, and what sort of cpu? Are you saying if you have 300 systems in Favourites A, it will give 300 sounds, or just a sound each time you click on a system?
Whats the exact name of the macro you are after?
If your workers are being closed by RM, My guess is you are low on ram or cpu. The logs in RM will give you the reason

OroDan - 5-1-2022 at 05:48 AM

32gb RAM, I know it's not a lot (I'll increase it) but it wasn't that slow before.
When I select the systems from "Unique-Systems", Manager emits a sound for each selected system, obviously if I select one it emits only one sound but if I select many it slows down until it stops emitting a sound for each selected system.
The macros are "top_250_1000_noWF_std ......" and "Top1000_LowPF + paramSt ....", sorry if the names are not complete but this is what I can see in the video.
Thank you

portfolioquanttrader2020 - 7-1-2022 at 05:38 AM

I think that macro 3 is another in a quick review of the crude oil methodology.
What you indicate is to look for indicators, and I think that in the screenshot that I put it is to obtain the statistics.
But the macro takes a long time to finish, I don't know if it will be broken

I PUT YOU THE CONTEXT:

Step forward through the Top 250 Favorites D sets once you've completed the macro2 above.

This would have been done in macro 1 Group1, but we stopped the macro.

This is done by going to favorites D, selecting the 250 systems (Control A) and walking to the cloud the 250 systems

Then run macro3 group1 to get the statistics.

I think what will help you, is to first figure out and understand in detail what you want to do and achieve, and then do that manually in GSB, and first after that, when you have achieved what you want, create the macro to automate it.

Open up the macro and look at what it does so you understand it.

If i would be you, i would first define what i want to do.
If your goal is to perform a run in CL using (at that time it was written) Peters methodology, i assume it has changed since GSB has progressed and so has the GSB official methodology, but basic is the same regardless.

However, decide first what you want to do, if you want to follow CL methodology as in documention for cl, then first try to understand the every detail of the step from the text, and videos, and then after that see if the macros supports your understanding of it...

IN the macro you show, you can step down step by step, and think trough what it actually does.. redo that, until it clicks.

Manually try to to perform each step from macro BUT MANUALLY, in GSB, see what happens, test, try, its manual grunt...

To me it looks like this macro you need to run after you have built and somehow done WF.. i dont know..

But i think its pointless running a macro unless you know the steps it does.

If you want my advice, i would say, forget macros and au, until you can manually get GSB to do what you want, and then first after that, use the macros and au and and even better, create you own macros to do what you want.. by doing it that way, you actually get a better understanding of things.

Whats the point of running a macro that in the end will produce some stats of something that you are not in control or understanding of what it does.

Just my 2 cents..
CL is a very easy market, has several sf that can be used etc.. Peter has shared some great videos to view about the process

IB and MC work great, however dont use IB data, its crap, not possible to get 10 years of IB 1min data regardless.. use IQ or some other source.. you get data from 2006 ish.. depending on market

Have no idea what macro 5 or 12 does.. perhaps the thresholds for putting them as favorite is to high ?

If your goal is to view VS or VSS of something, you can manually move the system into the favorite of your choice and view it there.

I can see that you dont limit the amount of trades per day to 1, this is something i would do, if i was you.

I never do this.
With indicators, we like to pick the top 10. This will vary a bit each time an indentical test is run, and its not super critical

Hi everyone,
after creating a system, when I copy and paste to Tradestation, easylanguage does not check the script because it does not recognize this command:
Ounces
Start
Value1 = GSB_Scripts_2021_12_23;
End;
If I exclude it, the script is checked. In this case, does the strategy always remain valid? How can I do to remedy the problem? My GSB \ TradeStation Code folder is empty.
Sorry, I'm just getting started. Thanks for collaboration.

coccigelus - 14-1-2022 at 01:27 PM

You need to update the script, through the eld file. You should find (I think) in some folder of the software.

admin - 14-1-2022 at 05:00 PM

Hi Oro
that script is a dummy script, and not needed. Its there to force users to update the eld which is in c:\gsb and C:\GSB\Supplementary Scripts (TS & MC)

There is a Lateentry fitness criteria and a result list called "latest days".

Is the result list (dark grey) the time period of these lateentry trades?

Is this lateengry period user adjustable? I don't find an explanation in the manual. Sorry if I overlooked something.

If the fitness criteria "lateentry" would point to a time period OOS it should not be used for normal building.

Thanks

Hi Rws.
late entry is fitness of making the entry one bar late. The notes are somewhere in the beta forum release thread.
One warning. One of the fintess's in this series gave good systems, but wf results had increased fitness, but poor results.
the series included latepf and all possible entries (entry on every bar till exit etc)

Does anyone trade micros and get crazy slippage at close ? Today slipped 30points! (Micro NQ) I'm in New Zealand, just using my home pc, so latency is around 240ms . Since im trading small I thought that would be ok.

got filled at 15:00:10 .. is that normal?

I do have lots of charts open, maybe the platform is lagging from the data at close..

Thanks

Hi Jamesh
A few things
i) slippage can be big at moc time, for good and for bad
ii) There is no way you should ever trade from NZ. Latency, dropouts etc
every one exits at 15:00:00 exactly, and you are going to be one of the last to be filled, so get worst slippage.
iii) you should be on a VM 1 milli second away from TS data servers
iv) I have a replacement to ts execution that has smart limit exit timed orders
This comes with my VM service

Im from Upper Hutt by the way

 Thanks Peter, I checked some more historical orders and they are always filled around 15:00:10, im wondering if its cause of the latency like you mention ,or just because of tradestation' "this bar on close", i mean how does tradestation know the bar has closed, since easylanguage runs execution on "next bar" if there isnt a next bar - perhaps there is a 10sec timeout?
Or it could be the arbitrage bots dont work at MOC so no liquidity in micros.

I'm in akl most of my life but have travelled around,

i will have to use a vps eventually if i size up because the entry slippage is usually a bit high too, but hey sometimes i get large positive slippage

Im not sure, but it could be related to your pc clock time, which might not be accurate. Slippage is one factor, execution errors another. Im not sure how bar time is detected. I suspect by t he time stamps in data from the exchange. Long time since ive ben in Auckland. On my 50th birthday flew to wn, got diverted to Auckland and bused it down over night. Very memorable ans special time with my daughter at the time. Still remember midnight have hot chocolate and Mac's with Huka falls picture in the background

Hi, are you asking about your system in the picture ?
What you need help with ?

@portfolioquanttrader2020, what I think has happened is a macro has run and changed the dates.
Set dates to all, and nth to all.
Done by right click, dates all, or double click on dates

The results of E and F are not good.
What is the cause?

@portfolioquanttrader2020, the results at the end of your curve are negtive - is the reason.
We are starting on revising CL again now, so given time we will update the CL methadolgy

Imho, i think your question needs to be asked to yourself, and the answer to that question would be found, in your own research trying to isolate small improvements in your settings and configuration that together might have a large impact on E and F. I dont think your have done anything wrong, its just that you need to spend time finding the answer to your question on your own.

The answer to your question, is not though, to find a single system that has good E and F.
